Powered by Youtube.com Four students in Professor Keith Sherony's Bus 230 Research Methods class recently completed a study which included a survey of approximately 2,000 La Crosse Area Business Leaders to guage their interest in high speed rail. With a response of 500, or over 25%, the study illustrated that local business leaders have a strong interest in high speed rail. Increased frequency of service is a significant driver in increasing their utilization of rail service to and from La Crosse. Results also indicated that travelers are willing to pay a premium for higher speed service with increased frequency. Please see the student's presentation attached. April 11, 2010 News Advisory on the Coalition's Creation - November 12, 2009 Approximately 70 La Crosse Area delegates traveled to Madison on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 to present a variety of issues to Governor Doyle, the Wisconsin State Legislature and Department Heads. An important component of this platform was the call for selection of the Empire Builder Route as the designated route for High Speed Rail. The delegates also called for articulation of the timeline for completion of the segment from Madison to La Crosse. We, the residents of Western Wisconsin, petition the Governor of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin State Legislature, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, United States Congress and the United States Department of Transportation to select, as the designated route for High Speed Rail, the existing service known as the Empire Builder Route (Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, Tomah, La Crosse/La Crescent, Winona, Red Wing, St. Paul).
